Shoes and the Sage

I arrived home. Home is wherever is mother. I arrived home after forty four days. When I left, I only wanted to buy shoes. I even spent a good second half of the day in trying to get closer to what my wandering feet wanted. I had bought a pair of black trekking shoes in early August but even though there is nothing as such like over-walking in the mountains, but by the time I finished my journey they seemed done. Any ways I could not find new shoes and left India with the same black ones. I traveled around Thailand and more so in Cambodia. I came back to Kolkata and while spending my ninth evening in Kashi on Chausathi Ghat I met an old man whom I felt kept looking at my black shoes. As I followed his gaze and later his worn out feet. I walked up to him and said, winters are here and so is Kumbh. He smiled. These forty days were exhausting and exhilarating. Travelling and experiencing newer yet …

The Red Cambodian Bed

I had been walking for last two days. But did not really reach anywhere. At the same time It took two days to understand two parallel road that looked similar and after reaching a circle went different ways. It took me time to understand two important Khmer words like Susrai/hello and okun/thank you. I finally decided to rent a cycle with city tyres. There are still days when i will be meeting my mentor for the workshop, but all this roaming is only to embrace as much information and varied subjects so as to present to the teachers what we will be working on as a project in Cambodia dedicated to Cambodian people, at least that is how i thought i would like to work. I am feeling so happy and so free in …

Its my last night. We are partying. I posted that letter to m. Meanwhile, something happened. Let me share this. it was magical – I am fortunate to have spent a memorable time during west Bengal monsoons. The blue sky behind the clouds had slept and drizzling took a break from firmly falling for days. I found sometime and went out for a small walk. The air was muggy. Balconies were empty. Drops were still falling from the sides of the roofs. Yellow bulbs have taken a stand and sounds were coming out of televisions. A little late a sole cooker spoke. I took the right turn. Once football field where i played on my arrival day five days ago had nature-d into a full filled country pond. I was awed to see the amount in which the frogs have gathered here. …
